"Most of the campsites in the Purbeck area are full on bank holidays - we book our tickets to Burnbake Campsite in advance so that we are guaranteed a pitch."

Individual Bookings
We do not take individual bookings as Burnbake Campsite is a turn up and pitch site; we do not have marked pitches that can be reserved.
Sorry, but as we do not take pitch bookings we never know how many pitches we will have available on a specific day. If you phone 01929 480570 the answer phone message will change when we are full.
We can however offer a rough guide as to whether we will have space or not based on previous experience: High season (school holidays) are a very busy time for us, and we are often full Thursday PM through to Sunday, we then empty out again on the Sunday and slowly fill up towards the weekend again. So the best time to arrive is from midday Sunday through to Wednesday, avoiding trying to arrive on the Friday or Saturday (also the traffic into Dorset and Purbeck is terrible on a weekend). If you do want to try in the busy times, it is best to come in the morning and see if anybody is leaving and take their space.
Out of high season it is a little less predictable, but generally unless a heat wave is predicted there is lots of spaces. The site does get busy at weekends, especially if the week before is hot and sunny.

Group Bookings
We take group bookings (10 units +) for the campsite in the Low and Mid season only. However, we do take group bookings (10 units +) for the Events Field throughout the season (except over the Spring and August Bank Holidays including the week after). The groups have to be organisation groups for example: Scouts, Guides, Schools, Clubs, Birthday and Wedding groups. For the prices of group bookings please telephone 01929 480570 or email us info@burnbake.com as this will depend on composition.

Bank Holidays (2012)
For the Easter and Early May Bank Holiday we do not take bookings.
But
For the Spring (half term) and August Bank Holidays we operate a ticket and pre booking system. We do not allocate pitches, we leave you to decide where you want to camp. It is just a system for restricting the quantity of campers allowing the facilities to function within their capacity. This is not to say that bank holidays are not busy, they are, but we try very hard to balance the demand for pitches and the number of people on site so you have the space to enjoy your long weekend.
To prevent overcrowding over the Spring/Jubilee (1 to 5 June) and August Bank Holidays (24 to 27 August) we have had to limit the number of campers on site. This we do by selling entry tickets/car passes at the gate or you can order them in advance.
When we are full we close the site to campers without passes.
This will be the 7th year that we have used the entry tickets system to limit numbers and it is very popular with the regular campers. Please note that we have made some changes to the system this year:

1. Pre-booked tickets will only be available for the full Bank Holiday (Friday night to Tuesday = 4 nights for the Spring/Jublee Bank Holiday) and (Friday night to Monday = 3 nights for the August Bank Holiday) . We will in addition be asking campers to pay up front for their camping for the hole Bank Holiday. In addition you will have to pay for the entry ticket which is £5 and a pre-booking fee of £5.
Example 1: For a family of 2 adults with 2 children for the Spring/Jubilee B/H this would come to £80 for the camping + £5 booking fee + £5 for entry ticket = £90 total for the 4 nights.
Example 2: For a family of 2 adults with 2 children for the August B/H this would come to £60 for the camping + £5 booking fee + £5 for entry ticket = £70 total for the 3 nights.
2. We will refund your camping fee if you are unable to turn up BUT we must be informed before 1200hrs on the Wednesday before. We will not refund the pre-booking fee and entry ticket.
3. Ticket numbers are restricted and will only be available up until 12 days before the Bank Holiday (21 May for the Spring/Jubilee Bank Holiday and 13 August for the August Bank Holiday).

To pre-book you need to send us a cheque made out to 'Burnbake Campsite' together with your car registration number, name and address. Upon receipt we will write to you with your entry ticket number. We will give you your entry ticket when you book in.
