Can I cycle places from the site safely?

Yes, we highly recommend that you bring a bike to Burnbake. Studland beach and village is a leisurely 25 minute cycle ride away and so is Corfe Castle. The campsite is situated in a beautiful area that is ideal for safely exploring by bike with cycle paths running past the site. In the summer hordes of children cycle round the site so definitely bring your kids bikes with you.

Do you have electric hook-up?

Currently we are installing 7 electricity points on site, we will keep you informed when they are ready.

Is the site suitable for children?

Yes we are a very family orientated site and children love it here, you will be lucky if you see your kids expect for breakfast and dinner. The campsite has a children’s playground, a very popular stream, more swings that you can count and a forest to play in, just don’t expect them to not be covered in mud.

When are you open?

We usually open just before Easter till the end of September, but this depends on the weather, and if the spring is extra cold then we may open later, and if October is unusually warm then we will stay open till it gets chilly.

If you are just a turn up and pitch site how do you know how full you will be?

Sorry, but as we do not take pitch bookings we never know how many pitches we will have available on a specific day. If you phone 01929 480570 the answer phone message will change when we are full.

We can however offer a rough guide as to whether we will have space or not based on previous experience:

High season (school holidays) are a very busy time for us, and we are often full by Thursday through to Sunday with people turning up for the weekend, we then empty out again on the Sunday and slowly fill up towards the weekend again throughout the week. So the best time to arrive is from midday Sunday through to Wednesday, avoiding trying to arrive on the Friday or Saturday (also the traffic into Dorset and Purbeck is terrible on a Friday and Saturday). If you do want to try in the busy times, it is best to come in the morning and see if anybody is leaving and take their space.

Out of high season it is a little less predictable, but generally unless a heat wave is predicted we are not really busy and there are always spaces, the site is most full again on weekends, and is almost empty during the week days.

How do you stop people coming in when it is full?

Signs are put up outside the site and throughout the site, and anybody caught pitching is asked to leave.

What can I come camping in?

We except all types of tents including trailer tents along with all sized campervans, but due to the single track access road and council regulations we do not take caravans.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes dogs are allowed on site, but must be on a lead at all times. There is a large forest next to the campsite where you can exercise/walk dogs. We do not charge for dogs.

Are camp fires allowed?

NO but we do allow small fires in metal containers such as fire bowls, where the fire is contained and raised above the ground. We have peat soils and are situated in a high fire risk area surrounded by heathland and forest.

Are barbeques allowed?

Yes, including disposable ones, as long as they are in a metal container and raised above the ground as we are in a high fire risk area.

Does the site get noisy?

We are a very family orientated campsite and ask for quiet at 10.30-11pm, we are aware that often people want to stay up chatting after this time and that is absolutely fine as long as they are respectful of their neighbours.

Tents are not at all sound proof and noise travels across the site easily. Staff live on site and do come around the site and events field checking that this rule is adhered to, that being said we are also very relaxed in management and expect individuals to know how to behave and to do so correctly.

What time can I arrive/leave and where do I check in?

You can arrive whenever you like, we do not have a reception so we come round the tents morning and evening to collect the rent.

When it comes to leaving if you are busy we ask you to leave by midday, otherwise take your time and leave as you wish.

What facilities do you have?

We have a shop with everything you need or forgot open morning and evening. It stocks camping equipment, gas, all sorts of food, fresh bread and milk, barbeques and charcoal, toys, cold drinks, chocolate and sweets, ice and ice cream. You can also hire picnic tables at the shop.

There are two toilet/shower blocks, one female and male with an extra unisex overflow shower block, totaling 13 toilets, 4 urinals, 14 showers, 12 wash sinks. In the external shower block there is also a baby changing room, a washing room fitted with a washing machine and a tumble dryer.

There is chemical disposal point behind the shop for camp toilets, and 7 drinking water points spread across the site.

A fully functioning children’s playground is situated next to the shop.

Do we allow groups of young people?

Yes we do, BUT we have had a lot of problems with groups of young people being noisy and disrespectful and if this continues then we will stop allowing them.

We are a very family orientated campsite and ask for quiet after 10.30pm, that being said we are also very relaxed in management and expect individuals to know how to behave and to do so correctly.

So if you feel that you will not be a problem then that’s fine I just like to warn people first, noise really does travel across the site and tents are not at all sound proof.
