"We are an active couple who enjoy walking and cycling. We were able to go on numerous walks and rides without having to drive anywhere. In fact, the only time we left the site was to enjoy an Indian Meal in Swanage and to have a swim in the sea at Studland!"

Things to do & places to go

Burnbake Campsite is an ideal base for those who want to explore the Isle of Purbeck and experience the diverse range of activities and attractions on offer.

The Isle of Purbeck sits on the south coast of Dorset and offers amazing coastal and country scenery. You can enjoy the Blue Flag sandy beach at the Victorian resort of Swanage or Studland. If you enjoy walking go along the South West Coast Path which gives breathtaking views over the Jurrasic coastline. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are key features of this World Heritage Site. Follow the Sika trail at Wareham Forest which offers safe off-road cycling. Visit Studland Riding Stables and have a horse ride on the beach. Arne Nature Reserve is perfect for bird-watching or spot dolphins at Durlston Country Park.

Why not take a trip on the Swanage Railway and stop off at the pictoresque village of Corfe Castle and explore the castle ruins. Take a boat trip to Brownsea Island, home of the rare red squirrel. Go to the market in Wareham on the river Frome and sample the local food. Go fossil hunting at Kimmeridge or Chapmans Pool.

The Isle of Purbeck has a wealth of family attractions including Monkey World, Farmer Palmers and Putlake Adventure Farm where you can feed the animals and play.

After all that... sit back in a comfortable chair with a glass of wine and enjoy the peace and tranquility that Burnbake Campsite offers!
