A hike through history

Corfe castle in Dorset, surrounded by green hills and white cottages

From Wareham to Weymouth, Dorset is brimming with stunning scenery. We’re so lucky to be situated so close to the South West coast, home to some of the best walking routes in Dorset. For an adventure to remember, we recommend a hike from our campsite to Corfe Castle. Slip on your boots and take a 3-mile ramble surrounded by British countryside views, before reaching the village.

Stop for a bite to eat at the Bankes Arms pub and visit Corfe’s National Trust attraction – the ruins of one of Britain’s oldest castles, destroyed during the English Civil War. After refuelling, it’s time to continue onto Swanage.

Take the scenic route

For the experienced, a 6.6 mile walk heading towards the Dorset coast is a hike not to be missed. Journey through Purbeck’s lush countryside and marvel at wildflowers and birdsong – the perfect romantic walk for two. You’ll find no shortage of things to do in Swanage, including a stroll along the quayside or exploring Swanage pier and admiring postcard-perfect views of Swanage beach.

If a longer route isn’t for you, hop on the Purbeck Breezer number 40 bus, running back and forth between Corfe and Swanage along its Jurassic Coast route and rest your legs whilst admiring the scenic sights outside.
