FAQs

When are you open?

We usually open just before Easter till the end of September, dependent on the weather and ground conditions.

Is the site suitable for children?

Yes we are a very family orientated site and children love it here. The campsite has a small children’s playground, a very popular stream and a woodland to play in.  Plenty of washing for mum!

Do you have electric hook-up?

Yes, we have 12 electricity points on site. They are on a first come, first served basis at an extra charge of 5.00 per night.

If you are just a turn up and pitch site how do you know how full you will be?

Bookings are not accepted for general camping as we operate on a Turn up and Pitch basis the only exceptions being the end of May and August bank holiday weekends which are only bookable on this website.

We are unable to predict in advance how busy we are likely to be as this is weather dependant. Busy periods with good weather could see the campsite full by 4pm.

School holidays are very busy but there is a natural ebb and flow of campers coming and going daily.  The best time to arrive and wait for a pitch tends to be around midday.

The current Pitch is availability displayed on the Home Page of this website, however this is subject to change without notice.

How do you stop people coming in when it is full?

Signs are put up outside the site and throughout the site. Please respect these signs and do not pitch as you may be asked to leave. We are only licensed for a certain number of tents and cannot exceed that number so although sometimes you may see some spare grass when the full boards are up please do not pitch up.

What time can I arrive/leave and where do I check in?

Burnbake time is midday to midday. Please arrive before 9pm at the latest to minimise disturbance to your neighbours and check-in at either the Reception or at the Burnbake Shop.

What can I come camping in?

We accept all types of tents, trailer tents, camper vans and motorhomes up to 7m. Due to the single track access road and council regulations we CANNOT ACCEPT CARAVANS.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes dogs are allowed on site, but must be on a lead at all times. There is a large forest next to the campsite where you can exercise/walk dogs. We do not charge for dogs. Please make sure you clear up any mess left by your dogs.

Are camp fires allowed?

NO GROUND FIRES AT ALL under any circumstances. We do allow wood fires but only in a container raised off the ground (This may be revoked in exceptional weather/grounds conditions ). Fire pits can be hired from Burnbake Shop.

Are barbeques allowed?

Yes, including disposable ones, as long as they are in a metal container and raised above the ground as we are in a high fire risk area.

Can I cycle places from the site safely?

Yes, there is excellent cycling all around the campsite including Studland beach and village which is a leisurely 25 minute cycle ride away as is Corfe Castle.

Does the site get noisy?

We are a very family orientated campsite and ask for quiet at 10.30pm.  We are aware that some people may wish to stay up chatting after this time and that is absolutely fine as long as they are respectful of their camping neighbours.

Tents are not at all sound proof and noise travels across the site easily. Staff live on site and do stroll around the site and events field checking that this rule is adhered to.  That being said we expect individuals to know how to behave and to do so correctly.

Anyone displaying behaviours deemed to be anti social by the Burnbake team may be asked to leave without refund.

What facilities do you have?

We have a shop open morning and evening. It stocks camping equipment, gas, groceries, fresh bread and milk, barbecues and charcoal, toys, cold drinks, chocolate and sweets, ice and ice cream. You can also hire picnic tables, fire pits and freezer blocks at the shop.

There are two toilet/shower blocks,a baby changing room, washing-up sinks and a laundry room fitted with a washing machine that takes 3 x £1 coins and a tumble dryer that takes 50p’s.

There is chemical disposal point behind the shop for camp toilets, and 7 drinking water points spread across the site. A children’s play area is situated next to the shop.
