The Campfield – on Burnbake site

The Campfield are adjacent to the main campsite. This field is available for hire in parts or as one area for scout camps, large group camps, school camps, events etc. The field is about 7 acres in size and is divided up into 3 large areas separated by fencing that can be sub divided for smaller groups (see map).

Bookings for the Campfield are for a minimum of 2 days, but are flexible otherwise. Use of the main campsite facilities, toilets and showers etc are restricted and only available on request dependent on the Main Campsite occupancy. We can arrange the hire of temporary toilets for your groups stay if required. This will need to be booked in advance and paid with your deposit.

We also have three other private camping fields situated near Burnbake in beautiful countryside bordering Poole Harbour. Cleavel Point, The Reservoir and The Common are all ideally suited to scouting or non motorised water sport groups and are very popular with a high proportion of guests returning year on year.

Please apply to Burnbake Campsite for camping rates for these three private areas or 01929 480570.

Cleavel Point – not on Burnbake site

(Map ref: SZ 001861)  A pretty flat triangular shaped field of approximately 15 acres on OWER farm, boarded on two sides by Poole harbour with a good launching beach for canoes and sailing dinghies . The field can accommodate two large private groups (Associations, Scouts, Guides or Schools) and is very popular with groups returning year after year, some recording 30 years of continuous visits.

The Reservoir – not on Burnbake site

This camping site is on Goathorn farm (Map Ref.: SZ014847) and is approx. 5 acres in size split between a flat grass field with views across Poole harbour and an area of turf interspersed with gorse bushes. This area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and only accommodates one group (Associations, Scouts, Guides or Schools) at a time. It is next to an old T- shaped clay pit with water 3 to 4 ft deep ideal for canoeing , raft building, rope bridges etc. The fresh water heats up with the weather and becomes nicely warm. This lake is also shared with any group occupying the Common site. The site is within walking distance of Studland beach.

The Common – not on Burnbake site

Camping site (map Ref: SZ 010850) is also on Goathorn Farm and extends to nearly 50 acres.  Scotch pine, heather and grass predominate. It is fairly flat and well sheltered and this free draining site is also a SSSI and so like the Reservoir site has to be managed carefully.  Occupants have shared use of the Reservoir for canoeing, raft building, rope bridges etc.

Note: the above sites are for pre-booked private groups, for example; Associations, Scouts, Guides or Schools, and are not open to public camping.

Please apply to Burnbake Campsite for private group camping rates for these areas or 01929 480570.

The Campfield, Cleavel Point, The Reservoir and The Common are very much pioneering type sites well away from habitation and without any facilities other than a water supply.  it is mandatory to boil the water prior to drinking. We can point you in the right direction should you wish to hire facilities locally. The Burnbake Campsite does have chemical disposable points you can use on request with arrangements made in advance.

We use abbas cabins for Porta loos costing £60 each we can arrange them for you. alter fires are permitted with the correct level of supervision but fires or barbecues on the ground are absolutely forbidden.

A large proportion of these farm grounds are sites of special scientific interest and as such need to be carefully managed. Therefore they are not over camped and usually (though not always) hold only one group per site at any one time.  it is expected that there will be no trace of your camping presence on the grounds when you leave!  Waste/litter can be taken to amenity sites in swanage or Wareham.

The same common sense terms and conditions apply to The Campfield, Cleavel Point, The Reservoir and The Common as per the Main Campsite. Please see Camping T&Cs.
