Beaches

Purbeck is truly blessed.

This glorious coastline has some of Britain’s finest beaches. Quiet hidden coves and secluded bays, vast soft sandy stretches and some craggy, full of rock pools. All are beautiful. The Blue Flag, golden sandy beaches of Swanage and Sandbanks are ideal for families.

Studland’s four beaches, Shell Bay, Knoll Beach, Middle Beach and South Beach are all sandy, National Trust owned and with a backdrop of dunes or picturesque heathland.

Kimmeridge Bay, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Man O’ War and Worbarrow Bay have a real rugged beauty. Take a walk to Dancing Ledge to see the swimming pool carved into the rocks. It’s a beautiful spot for a picnic and popular with rock climbers. Explore tidal rock pools at Kimmeridge and at Winspit, where the beach can only be accessed on foot from the quaint village of Worth Matravers.

Water sports of all sorts make the most of Purbeck’s natural coastline. Equipment can be hired and boat trips booked.
