Choose your perfect camping pitch
We pride ourselves on offering a back-to-nature camping experience that’s relaxed, rustic and charming. In fact, it’s how we first started in 1975, when our founder Philippa Ryder had the idea to create a campsite on a patch of sun-baked heathland on the sprawling Rempstone Estate.
Although the campsite has since grown to become one of Dorset’s most cherished holiday destinations, the commitment to great family holidays in nature remains the same. During the day, the campsite comes alive with the sound of children playing, campers cooking, and guests coming and going. At night, it becomes a magical place, where fairy lights twinkle, campfires crackle and the fields are filled with the sounds of laughter and family games.
All pitches are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and campers can choose their perfect spot across three fields. Our original field is the main campsite, offering shady woodland plots with access to a small adventure play area, our toilet and shower facilities, on-site shop, and fire pit, BBQ grill and bike hire. Alternatively, there’s the open field, which backs onto the forest and is perfect for larger groups, or the smaller, quieter campfield, which offers direct access to a wonderful woodland walk.
Although we can’t accommodate caravans, we have 12 electric hook-up points available for tents, campervans or small motorhomes up to seven metres. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to stay, too.
Book a faff-free escape in a bell tent
Don’t want the hassle of putting up a tent or packing everything but the kitchen sink? We now have three spacious bell tents in the Camp Field, offering a relaxing, ready-to-go camping option, with fantastic forest views to soak up as the sun goes down. Simply drive up, drop your bags and let the good times roll.
Each bright and roomy tent comes with a double airbed and two single airbeds, with a picnic bench and solar lighting outside.
All you need to bring are your camping essentials (think bedding, cooking equipment, towels and camping chairs) and those sunny holiday vibes. All the tents are dog-friendly, so your four-legged friends can come and stay too.
Enjoy a family stay in a luxury safari tent
Want the adventure of sleeping under the stars with all the home comforts? Then look no further than our luxury safari tents. Sleeping up to four or six guests, they are unique to the UK, offering a home-from-home experience in the great outdoors.
Available for stays of between two and seven nights, each tent is fully furnished, with some thoughtful little luxuries to elevate your camping experience. Inside, you’ll find bedrooms with proper beds, comfy mattresses and warm bedding, along with a well-equipped kitchen, a sociable dining table and a relaxing sofa with blankets and cushions.
Outside each tent, there’s a private deck with a dining table and firepit – all within easy reach of our shower pods and private toilets. And you can bring up to two well-behaved dogs to stay with you, too.
Whichever camping option you decide to try, Burnbake offers the perfect base to explore Dorset’s Jurassic Coast and the Isle of Purbeck, with easy access to sandy beaches and glorious countryside on foot or by bike. Alternatively, there are plenty of pretty villages, historic towns and family-friendly attractions just a short drive away.
