“So… where do we want to eat?”
Hungry bellies make for unhappy holiday makers, so choosing where you want to eat can be one of the most important decisions during your well-deserved family break. For visitors to Burnbake, however, this is one less thing to worry about, as we are surrounded by so many delicious pubs, restaurants, café’s, patisseries and bars that you’ll be spoilt for choice during your stay. Heck, you’ll probably have to come visit us again (and again, and again!) just to try them all out.
To make your lives easier, here is our list of some of the best places to go eat on the Jurassic Coast:
Shell Bay Restaurant
Found nuzzled on the edge of the Isle of Purbeck, this restaurant and bistro serves seafood as stunning as the views that surround it. With glorious dining areas that allow you to enjoy the vistas of Brownsea Island, Poole Harbour and Sandbanks all year round, their menu is packed full of fresh, local seafood and produce all sourced from the surrounding areas.
The Salt Pig Too
Head to the heart of Swanage town centre to experience The Salt Pig Too, a thriving independent restaurant, café, butchery and urban farm shop. Serving seasonally inspired dishes that are locally sourced where possible (literally within 8 miles of the premise in some cases) this is a great option if you’re after a hearty meal with incredible service.
Bankes Arms
Not all country pubs have the luxury of uninterrupted views across Studland Bay, Poole and the Isle of Wight, but the people who built the Bankes Arms back in the 16th century clearly knew what they were doing! Just a short walk away from Old Harry Rocks, this beautiful stone pub is cunningly situated right next door to the Isle of Purbeck Brewery, so is the perfect place to stop off for a pint during your blustery Jurassic Coast hike.
Greyhound Inn
For the perfect stop off point in Corfe Castle, look no further than The Greyhound Inn. At the crossroads of where historic charm meets superb dining, this pub is great for laid-back lunches, Sunday roasts or romantic dinners, all with spectacular views of the castle ruins unlike anywhere else. Plus their skilled bar staff are on hand to offer advice on which drink will go best with your meal.
So whether you’re filling your bellies for an incredible hike across the coast, or keeping the smiles on your kids’ faces, come down to Purbeck, book your stay at Burnbake and visit the secret foodie destinations of Dorset.
